Nourishing Communities: Mosaic’s Holiday Commitment to Putting Food on the Table

At Mosaic, we’re all about food: Helping farmers grow it, and people get it!

During the holiday season, embracing our mission to help the world grow—and get—the food it needs becomes even more important. Floridians’ traditional holiday meals are delivered from farm to fork, in part, thanks to Mosaic’s dedicated employees and Florida phosphate.

Thanksgiving Harvest

In time for Thanksgiving, Mosaic’s agriculture operations team harvested a 140-acre green bean crop on former citrus grove land, now repurposed as farmland for seasonal crops destined for local markets. Mosaic collaborates with Farmers Alliance to package and deliver green beans to grocery stores across Florida’s Heartland.

Michael Council, an Agriculture Operations Projects Manager for Mosaic, says the company prepares this crop each year specifically to feed Floridians during the holiday season.

“This crop was planted in mid-September with the intention of harvesting prior to the Thanksgiving holiday,” said Mr. Council. “It’s very rewarding to know that the green beans we grow locally, with the help of our phosphate products, are feeding local families this holiday season.”

Helping Farmers Grow Food

Florida is counting on phosphate to help farmers feed more people each year. The Sunshine State’s population is booming, expected to reach 26 million by 2030. That means farmers need to produce higher-yield crops on less land. Mosaic’s phosphate products are the essential ingredient that will help farmers deliver for a growing state and nation.

Mosaic’s commitment to community means ensuring our communities are well-fed. We recently partnered with Metropolitan Ministries to sponsor and volunteer at a Pop-Up Distribution in Wimauma to share food and toys with families in need.

“At Mosaic, we believe that everyone should have access to the fruits of a good harvest, especially during the holiday season,” said Sarah Fedorchuck, Vice President, Government and Public Affairs – North America. “We’re proud to partner with Metropolitan Ministries, an organization that embodies the spirit of giving, to support local families in need.”

Before Thanksgiving, Farm-City Week celebrates the interdependence of farm families and urban communities. Mosaic teamed up with the Hardee County Farm Bureau to provide kids a hands-on experience to understand the origins of their food, express gratitude to farmers, and understand the importance of crop nutrients.

“Hardworking farmers help put food on the table year-round to feed Florida families,” said Andrea Johnson, Ag Fest Coordinator with the Hardee County Farm Bureau. “Understanding where our food comes from is important, especially during the holiday season, and Mosaic’s participation was important for this year’s event.”

At Mosaic, we’re committed to battling hunger and supporting food security every day—and that mission takes on even greater meaning during the holiday. Together, let’s ensure food makes it from the farm… to forks!
