After another successful Fair Season in Florida, Mosaic is pleased to donate 12,297 lbs. of meat to local youth organizations through our support to the FFA and 4-H programs.

Our mission is to help the world grow the food it needs, and that mission extends beyond manufacturing fertilizer for the global agriculture industry. Through our partnership with the FFA and 4H programs, we provide support to Florida students and help them prepare for a career in agriculture. Students learn important skills in farming, such as caring for and raising animals, as well as sustainable agriculture. Each year, students showcase and market their livestock for sale at the annual county fairs.

This year, we provided 680 add-ons, which are financial contributions we provide to support exhibitors and help offset the overall cost of each project. We also purchased and donated 12,297 pounds of meat through our partnership to support youth agriculture. Meat purchased at the county fairs was donated to support 21 local hunger-relief, community, and youth organizations in our operating areas, including:

DESOTO: DHS Junior Class, Miss DeSoto Fast Pitch, DeSoto Youth Baseball, All Faiths Food Bank

HARDEE: Cutting Edge Ministries, Hardee Help Center, Hardee Youth Baseball, Resthaven, Hardee Junior Class

HIGHLANDS: New Testament Mission, Avon Park Church Services

MANATEE: Manatee Food Bank, Giving Alliance of Myakka City, Duette Community Association

Mosaic employee Hector Mier – Supervisor of Area II at Bartow, reflects on what Mosaic’s partnership means to his community and family:

“As a father, employee, son, and husband, I believe character is the foundation for success. The Hardee County Fair Livestock program is a great opportunity for my three daughters. They have learned compassion towards animals, discipline, responsibility, and hard work. We thank Mosaic and its community partners for their annual support at the Hardee County Fair, which benefits so many other local food partners in our community.”

Lylah Jones, Mulberry Middle School FFA with Morgan Odum, Public Affairs Specialist for Mosaic – Mosaic purchased Lylah’s Market Swine project from the Polk County Youth Fair. The meat was donated to a food partner in Polk County.
