The Ona mine site is comprised of roughly 26,853 acres of land in Hardee County and is located adjacent to Mosaic’s existing South Pasture mine, which was temporarily idled in 2018. Mosaic’s Ona Mine plan, which includes mining the East portion of reserves at South Pasture, will have a long-term economic and environmental impact on Hardee County and surrounding communities. This mine supports ongoing, good, high-paying jobs and creates opportunities for young people who want to remain in Hardee County to start a career and raise a family. Other benefits of the project include preservation of multiple acres of wetlands and critical habitats that serve as a refuge for various species of wildlife that call the property home.
