Cheering for the home team just got even better. Last month, Mosaic announced a new partnership with the Tampa Bay Rays to fight food insecurity. Named Runs for Food, this initiative will support Meals on Wheels organizations across the Tampa Bay region. This marks the third major sports partnership between Mosaic and Tampa-based sports teams, joining Goals for Food with the Tampa Bay Lightning and Tackling Hunger with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

As part of Runs for Food, Mosaic will donate $500 for every run scored at home by a Rays player to Meals on Wheels organizations including Meals on Wheels of Tampa, Meals on Wheels of Charlotte County, Meals on Wheels of Polk County, Meals on Wheels of Manatee and Meals on Wheels of Pinellas, a program of the Neighborly Senior Care Network.

“We’re thrilled to partner with Mosaic on this initiative,” said Anthony Rioles, Vice President, Corporate Partnerships – Tampa Bay Rays. “Thanks to Runs for Food, our fans will be cheering for so much more than just runs every time we cross the plate.”

Meals on Wheels delivers meals to individuals, primarily senior citizens, who have difficulty accessing or preparing their own meals. With more than 5,000 community-based programs across the country, the Meals on Wheels network serves more than 251 million meals to 2 million seniors annually, including 12.4 million meals benefiting 65,000 seniors in Florida.

With a mission to help the world grow the food it needs, Mosaic believes in giving back locally to those facing food insecurity — including children, adults and seniors across the areas where we operate.

Commitment to Fighting Hunger

Food, water and local are the three pillars of Mosaic’s community-based company-wide focus areas. The Runs for Food program with the Rays, along with our partnerships with the Lightning and Buccaneers, is key to fighting food insecurity.

The Goals for Food partnership with the Tampa Bay Lightning, which has been going on since 2012, supports more than a dozen local food partners including Feeding Tampa Bay, Metropolitan Ministries, Meals on Wheels and others located across five counties. Since its inception, Goals for Food has exceeded more than $1 million donated, totaling more than 12 million meals served to those in need. Learn more about the partnership here.

Similarly, the Tackling Hunger partnership with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers fights food insecurity by targeting areas with children in need, as one in four children in Tampa Bay are food insecure – a number that is even higher in some areas across the region. Since announcing the Tackling Hunger partnership in 2021, Mosaic has pledged to open five school food pantries over five years. In the first three years, pantries were opened at Broward Elementary School in Seminole Heights; Bowling Green Elementary School in Hardee County; and Lamb Elementary School in Progress Village. In 2024, Mosaic opened the fourth pantry at Pinecrest Elementary School in Lithia. The program collaborates with Feeding Tampa Bay, part of the Feeding America network. “At Mosaic, we are committed to making a meaningful impact in the communities where we live and work,” said Sarah Fedorchuk, Mosaic Vice President, Government and Public Affairs – North America. “We’re fans of our home teams and fighting hunger, so we’re grateful for and proud of these partnerships that benefit so many people across Tampa Bay.”
