Watch this video to hear about a few ways Riverview employees are using mobile technology to reduce risks, save time and stay connected.
Mobile technology is being used across our North America Business – in big and small ways – to operate safely, responsibly and create the greatest possible value for Mosaic’s team. Getting technology into the hands of employees provides them with easy access to the real-time information they need to do their jobs. It also helps us connect across sites and geographies to plan work, collaborate and align efforts.
When an operator noticed an odd noise coming from a gearbox, he used his iPhone to record and send a short video to the maintenance supervisor. The supervisor had a technician listening to it within 15 minutes to diagnose severity. Without an iPhone, this could have taken half a shift or longer – potentially delaying action needed to ensure the repair was done as safely, quickly and cost-effectively as possible.
This is just one example of how mobile technology is being used across our North America Business – in big and small ways – to operate safely, responsibly and create the greatest possible value for Mosaic and our team. “Getting technology into the hands of our employees allows them to quickly connect with others and provides easy access to real-time information they need to do their jobs,” explains Colin Alberts, Mobile Deployment Lead. “We’re able to work together across sites and geographies to plan work, collaborate and align efforts – which are more important than ever as we move forward as an integrated North America Business.”
Our Riverview facility in Florida is leading the way with deployment of mobile technology – which will be crucial to enabling employees as we continue to focus on improving employee and customer experiences through digitization. Learnings from work underway at Riverview and other Mosaic sites will help guide our efforts to expand use of mobile technology throughout our North America Business.
Riverview: Mobile Technology Deployed to all Employees in 2019
Deployment of mobile technology began at Riverview in December 2018, and by the second quarter of 2019 – every hourly and salaried employee had a Mosaic-issued iPhone XR. “There were some who were apprehensive at first, but within six months most couldn’t imagine ever going back,” says Justin Foecking, Workflow Superintendent. “From managing email, completing training and coordinating emergency response to simply staying informed – having a company-issued phone makes so many things so much easier. This is especially true at our operations sites since most employees don’t sit in front of a computer to do their work.”
Justin readily admits it hasn’t been smooth sailing all the way but says the Covid-19 pandemic has left no doubt about the benefits of mobile technology. “Deploying mobile technology gives our employees easy access to tools they need to stay connected, stay safe and succeed at their jobs – despite the pandemic or whatever circumstances we face,” he explains. “Mobile applications, texts and video are all tools most of us use every day in our personal lives. Now we’re able to put them to good use at work too – learning and improving as we go.”
