From learning about the importance of mangroves and water testing to identifying plants, crabs, birds and other wildlife – Mosaic’s Coastal Education Center is an outdoor classroom where 4th grade students across Hillsborough County, Florida can learn about the environment while developing an appreciation for the area’s ecosystem. The center sits near our Riverview, Florida manufacturing facility along Tampa Bay.
Our employee volunteers, also knows as docents, are an integral part of the success of this education program. They help guide students through the exploration of the shoreline during trail walks, seine netting, and catching fiddler crabs.
Thanks to our docents’ involvement in the program, many students’ passion for science is ignited through microscope observations, water testing, and a firsthand look at one of Florida’s beautiful and important ecosystems.
